Tartan history - Duncan Ancient tartan is a green and blue based tartan with an orange overcheck. In 1702 King Malcolm III gave the lands of Dunbar to one Gospatric who was a kinsman of King Duncan. Gospatric became Earl of Dunbar and his descendant.
